Small Structures

Over the years we have designed numerous small timber framed structures for garden sheds, workshops, storage buildings, studios, craft shops etc. We have decided to offer a line of pre-designed frames that can be shipped ready for assembly. Instructions are provided.

These frames are built with either 'rough sawn' or planed timbers, all mortise & tenon joinery, fixed with hardwood pegs.

The frames are available either with 3x4 "nailers" between the posts to provide support for vertical sheathing, as timber structures have been built throughout the Maritimes for more than 250 years, or without nailers. See Options for more details.

The buildings can be easily insulated by installing rigid foam outside of the sheathing. The insulation can be covered with boards and shingled, or board & baton, or strapped for horizontal siding.
