The Hector Heritage Quay Museum, Pictou, Nova Scotia

The Hector Museum in Pictou was built alongside a replica of the Ship Hector. The original Hector was an old Dutch cargo ship which transported the first wave of immigrants to Nova Scotia from Scotland in 1773. The timber frame museum and the wooden boat are built with many of the same time-honoured techniques which have been passed on through the years by a small of craftspeople interested in preserving these ancient skills.

Before founding Arlington Frame Company, Forrest Rand was production manager for Scotia Post and Beam, Atlantic Post and Beam and Acadia Post and Beam. He was in charge of designing, cutting and raising timber frames. This is of his projects from those days.
