Bethany United Church, Halifax, N.S.

A distinctive extension and addition with timber frame trusses and iron gussets

Bethany United's congregation had outgrown its sanctuary, and wanted to extend it using the same distinctive trusses with their iron gussets. We constructed the new trusses at our shop, complete with ironwork from Ironwood Forge and Woodworks near Wolfville.

The new trusses were lowered carefully into place by crane. The new timber frame trusses echo the shape of the old ones. Soon they will be stained to match.

A new chapel is being added, with steeper-pitched trusses in a similar style.
